Species
- Perch:
- Perch are delicious fish, but they tend to be small
and it takes a lot to make a meal for a family. They are caught all over the
state of Michigan. They are fun to ice fish for. Good baits to use are
minnows, worms, and when ice fishing dragon fly larvae.
- Smallmouth Bass:
- Smallmouth bass are scrappers. They don't like to give up a battle and are awesome to catch. They
like Mepps spinners and little jointed Rapalas. Good time to catch them is in late May and early June
when they are spawning and are close to shore.
- Walleye:
- Walleye are also a good eating fish. They are caught around the month of May pretty heavily. Their eyes are made for the dark so they
usually feed at night.
Good bait for walleye are worms, minnows, wally divers/like baits, and rubber worms with a 3/8 ounce jig head.
